Review on ๐Ÿ”ง TYC 700071 Front Blower Assembly Replacement for Dodge by Vivek Allen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked fine, no problems installing

Installation didn't cause any problems, except that you had to be a third-hand acrobat to make it "easy". This unit weighs a little less than the OEM released version, but I don't expect it to make much of a difference in terms of quality or durability. I also changed the fan resistor. Once the resistor fails, you can assume the fan has reached the end of its life. The old one's fan was definitely not spinning freely, but to find out you need to remove the fan, and if you've gotten this far you can still replace it :) This requires an 8mm wrench. Work, but 5/16 was close enough to be usable. However, the rear screw on the fan is in the wrench tightening position (interfering with the car's fairing), so you'll probably need a socket wrench with a small extension instead of a socket for that screw. scope. I suggest having a mirror and an LED flashlight (one that illuminates the area, not a beam) handy. Put the mirror on the palette, turn on the lights so it doesn't get pitch black under the dashboard. A mirror isn't necessary, but will help when reinstalling screws, especially on a drag where you need to find a matching hole. On the Durango, the electrical connectors are held in place by a red bracket. This must be removed to disable it. Reinserting it takes some pressure and some fiddling. Nothing special, but with mine I had to get to the point where I was wondering if something was wrong before it locked into place. All in all it's a 15 minute job plus another 15 minutes trying to figure out how to get your arms to bend weird. Ways to get under the dashboard. Nothing that makes me hesitate in recommending this do-it-yourself job to anyone who has already rolled a nut once or twice.

Pros
  • Engine cooling and climate control
Cons
  • Update availability
