Review on AramediA Citrus Orange Handmade Squeezer Kitchen & Dining and Kitchen Utensils & Gadgets by Mary Alvarado

A coat of food safe wood oil is required

I love this item. I used to only hand squeeze lemons and limes for cooking, so literally EVERYTHING would be a step forward. I don't have a lot of drawer space so I couldn't buy one of the big squeezers. I found this one and others that were basically exactly the same but had nicer finishes. This is untreated wood. You don't have to coat it with varnish or anything like that, but it MUST be coated with oil before using it. I have a food grade wood oil that I use on my cutting boards and have used it on this reamer. It has been polished to a high gloss. When I use it, I just give it a really good rinse (half the soaps people use contain citrus anyway, so you really don't need soap unless you just leave it there for a few days before cleaning) and then apply another coat of oil on top every 4-7 times I've used it. It keeps the wood conditioned and hygienic. As far as actual performance goes, it works great. This is an example, they all work the same way. It has good angles, so it's really good for getting every bite of juice, but it's not exceptional either way.

Pros
  • The unique nature of wood means that no two pieces are alike and each piece will vary in size. Small imperfections in the wood show that each item is handmade
Cons
  • Rosette required
