Not a bad unit but I would upgrade to the next model

This box hit the mark for me. I couldn't figure out why he was having sound issues. Two of them thought they were different because the description links were not the same. I ordered both to compare and they were exactly the same. The S905X3 is definitely an improvement over the original first Android box that I reviewed in another review. It's not too different from the NOVA model, but it doesn't have an SD card slot, it has half the internal storage (32GB) and a quad-core processor instead of a quintuple-core processor (A53 and A55 Cortex respectively ). Interestingly, the controller is a little fiddly to assemble and the remote works right out of the box (IR). The same remote control also works with the NOVA Smart TV set-top box. The catch here is that (IR) is a poor signaling format that requires you to point directly at the box for it to pick up your signals. This is extremely inconvenient. An alternative would be to use a mouse instead of a remote control, but you lose one of the two USB ports for the mouse dongle. On the other hand, I was able to seamlessly get all my Google apps from the Playstore, and now I'm ready to ditch my Fire TV sticks and replace them with this box for my media consumption. It should be noted that this box has 8K decoding, but I don't have an 8K TV to test it and 8K is not mainstream consumer technology at the time of writing this article. The 4k tests I ran resulted in stunningly beautiful, very bright and sharp images. 4GB of RAM blasts my Fire Sticks by 2GB. The price difference between this box and NOVA is small. I'd recommend NOVA if you can scrape together a few extra bucks, although that's fine too thanks to the image quality it delivers.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Tape
