Review on πŸ§₯ X Small Westcomb Nomad Jacket - Pavement by Carl Givens

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Fantastically made useless piece of cloth

When I took it out of the box I was surprised at what I got. Although some previous reviews have referred to it as a "coat" I assure you that it is ABSOLUTELY NOT A COAT. Do not get me wrong. This jacket is very well made. Sturdy construction with quality that lives up to the Made in Canada label is where it gets my 2 stars. But. Now comes the "but" part: it's TOO THIN! Seriously, no ordinary soft shell, but thin as foil! The PERTX material is very pleasant to the touch, it is skin-tight and high-tech. Maybe water repellent? But as for the "windproof" part, I highly doubt it. Wind? - maybe, but definitely not a gust of wind just because it's TOO THIN. The label says "helps wick moisture" but I can't think of a situation where I need it to "wick moisture" - on hot summer days I don't see the point of wearing a jacket and it doesn't seem to offer UV protection because it's black. On cold winter days? - I just tested it outside where it's a bit windy at 18 degrees Celsius and within 5 minutes I was freezing. I can't imagine running in this jacket without catching a cold and yes my Windstopper Gore Running Wear jacket works much better for half the price. Carrying this treadmill on a windy day will give you no more comfort than carrying a garbage bag - now I sympathize with Bradley Cooper in the Silver Linings Playbook. Many thanks to Westcomb, a respected company, for the meticulous design and manufacture of this ridiculous piece of fabric. - literally, no, I wouldn't call it a jacket. I think it drives me crazy about "nomads".
