I was planning a much longer kayaking adventure, and my brother who likes to wreck my fun, said, hey, do you have safety gear for your kayak. I said, Ahh, I got a whistle and life vest. He was right, I needed an oar leash. (Among other items). My first long row I rested with my oar across my lap, a fish jumped out of the water, knocked the end of my oar, and my oar was set free. Except my leash worked. I’m glad I got it. There is a hook and loop strap to go around the oar, and an adjustable carabiner that secures your oar to you, the kayak, whatever floats your kayak. The strap did get in my way until I got used to it, so all around a good buy, and a good idea to have.
