I've owned the car long enough that you need to replace the gas struts that hold the trunk up. Buying them from a Lexus dealer is very expensive so I decided to go to the aftermarket. You'll need a piece of wood cut to size or a stout helper to hold the back door while you work. I used a 2x4 piece. Removing the old posts was easy, but the replacement posts weren't labeled left or right so be sure to match and label them with the old posts if you forgot! I was able to fit the top bracket just fine, but I could never get the bottom bracket to line up with the stud on the tailgate. There were no instructions on how to do this with the struts so I turned to YouTube and after much searching found that the metal retaining clips around the lower gas spring mount needed to be removed. to rotate the bracket to the desired position and slide it onto the stud. Removal was easy - just slip a flathead screwdriver underneath and pry it off. BE CAREFUL. The clip is very strong and can get in your eyes, so wear safety glasses. Also, one of them honked through the driveway and it took me a while to find him. Everything is ready without him. Reinstalling is a bit tricky as the clip is so strong that you cannot open it by hand. I used needle nose pliers and inserted the pointed ends into the hole in the clip to pry it open. From there you can reattach it around the stud in the tailgate. After the assembly headache was over, the gate went right up again with almost too much vigour! It certainly takes some force to close it again. Overall I am happy with these replacement stands and they serve their purpose. Can't comment on durability but for the price if they last 3 years I'm fine with that. Needs a more detailed installation guide as it's not immediately clear how to do it. I hope my review helps someone.
