Intel Pentium G3250T with passive cooling

I decided to try this CPU cooler for PC with media center. The main idea was to buy a very low-power processor that doesn't need fans, just outdoor ventilation. The results initially seemed promising. The CPU I chose wasn't particularly powerful at 35 W, but it stayed relatively cool. However, over time, I began to feel excessive heat leaking from the top of the case. I ended up adding 2 x 50mm case fans to the setup. Still quiet and much colder with zero fans so I got the implementation I wanted. My HTPC build consists of an Intel Pentium G3250T, 4GB DDR3 RAM, a 32GB mSata SSD, an old Intel Wifi card and a Blu-ray drive. It's all packed into a box that looks like a DVD player the size of a VCR.

Pros
  • Heatsink
Cons
  • Legacy model
