Review on PlatinumPower Charging Cable Cord Garmin by Jason Hood

Not what I expected. I need a longer cable to charge the Nuvi 42 via USB when using the Nuvi in a car. Using this cable to charge the Nuvi from my laptop around my house seemed fine, but trying to use the cable while navigating my car didn't work. There was a flash on the battery icon as if the charge was ok, but Nuvi pestered me every minute with a popup saying it was running on battery and if I wanted to continue navigating. I ended up getting a short USB extension cable and used it in combination with the short USB cable that came with Nuvi to USB charge in my car. This approach works great.
