This thing absorbs condensation like nothing else

My old coasters were cheap and horrible and couldn't absorb anything - I used to put a glass of soda on it with ice and then found all the water leaked through it onto the table . Talk about useless. I've finally gotten around to buying new coasters and my first requirement is that they should hold water. I've seen some people say they don't hydrate, but since most say they do, I decided to take a chance. GOOD CHOICE. I've used it with my tall glass of ice soda and so far it's soaked up condensation like no other. There is so much liquid dripping down the outside of my glass, one day I picked it up and it splashed water over my knees, so much condensation does it get. This coaster soaks it up like it doesn't matter. it also doesn't penetrate all the way to the cork floor so my desk is finally safe! The material says it's a ceramic stone, but it definitely doesn't look like any ceramic I've ever used before. When it arrived they were separated by separate plastic sheets for protection and sat in a metal stand (which is great, I completely forgot it came with it). On top was a layer of white dust (ceramic dust?) which I actually wiped off on my shirt as I found the wet cloth didn't work really well as it's not a smooth surface. the top of it basically looks like a very finely sanded flower pot? It's soft to the touch and I love it because my glass doesn't click/rattle against it. Anyway, I wiped it on my shirt and then threw the shirt in the wash, all is good. If you're looking for inexpensive coasters that look great and absorb water like no other, I HIGHLY recommend them!
