Coconut nesting material and bird hazard warning

We bought this coconut nest to replace a similar one we had in our zebra finch cage which was very old and dirty. Coconut and ladder work well. We also used the nesting material that comes with the coconut and unfortunately one of our finches got caught on one of the flimsy threads, hanged himself and died. It was at night so we didn't notice and couldn't save him. I would recommend not using interlaced material and instead using something that doesn't have flimsy threads.
