Review on High-Performance Creality MKK Semi Assembled 3D Printer - 500x500x500mm by Kyle Robinson

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Not for AM beginners

Update (11/15/21): After getting this printer to work (see below) I was unable to redo another print. The excellent quality print mentioned below was a test sample that came preloaded on a USB stick. The bed didn't stay level, the prints didn't stick to the print bed (even after following Reddit recommendations). The printer has a large printable area, but most large prints will take a few days to a week to print. Great idea, but the technology isn't quite there yet if you're looking for low-effort, no-frustration surgery. This item was received by Revain on 10/9/2021 and I am still awaiting a refund. ----- ----------- Original 3 Star Rating This printer is advertised with three parts that you can assemble and start printing in 10 minutes; but you probably won't. The instructions are vague to incomplete. Without Youtube and Reddit I would not have been able to fix this unit and would have requested a refund. I'm mechanically inclined, someone who isn't inclined will most likely not be able to troubleshoot even with online help. My kit came with a bent left frame side mount and a broken X-axis limit switch; Both had to be ordered and replaced before I could start printing (2 days after the kit arrived). There is a warranty part, but you can read other reviews about how long this process takes. I preferred to order the parts myself rather than waiting for an answer. The Z-axis limit switch needs to be moved up as far as you can humanly push it and lift while screwing it in or else the nozzle will be pushed into your glass assembly. 5 mm thick plate makes alignment impossible. The only reason I didn't give this model 1 star is that if you're willing to troubleshoot until it works, it works as advertised and produces high quality prints.

Pros
  • ☀Large Format 3D Printing☀ The CR-10 S5 Plus supports a print volume of 500 x 500 x 500 mm, which is possibly the largest you would expect from an i3 texture printer. Just 3 steps to get 1:1 human armor. It's time to let your imagination run wild.
Cons
  • Slightly dented
