Review on StarTech.com 3 Port USB C Hub with SD πŸ’» Card Reader - Boost Laptop Connectivity - Thunderbolt 3 Compatible by Bob Novitsky

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Corresponds to his statement. Full speed 10 Gbps.

Pros: - Full USB 3.1 Gen 2 @ 10Gbps support - Small portable form factor with long cable - Works exactly as intended and advertised Cons: - All 3 USB ports (2x A, 1x C ) are on the same page. Place one of the A ports on the opposite side if the design allows for larger USB devices such as smart card readers. I am very happy with this purchase. There was only 1 review so I hesitated but it fits my needs perfectly. My laptop has 1 USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gb/s) port that I can connect to either an external NVMe drive (also 10Gb/s) or a USB-C hub that also has an Ethernet connection adapter has. This hub allows me to mix Ethernet and USB-C while still maintaining my favorite 10Gbps speed. The image shows a CrystalDiskMark comparison between a drive connected to a hub and a drive connected directly to a laptop. What I can't test is how the hub would perform if I had all 3 USB ports enabled. I would imagine there would be some deterioration, but this is not a situation to worry about. BTW, if you look at the packaging, the StarTech logo is "Hard to find, easy to make" and I have to agree, it's pretty accurate. I searched Revain everywhere looking for a USB-C hub that had both Ethernet and USB-C 10Gbps data, and the options were almost non-existent. I remember comparing it to the runner up but it was almost double the price. Best regards, Startec
