Review on Optimized Coil Spring Set - Moog CC865 by Jevon Sterling

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Moog springs are what they say they are. That is a good thing.

Bought these bitter sweet feathers. Bitter because they drove a car that used to belong to my father. Cute because when the OEM suspension suddenly died, it died while I was riding, not my dad when he was in his 70's and may not have been able to control the wildly bouncing and swaying 2.5 ton machine . I installed these springs on the back of an early 2000's car. Lincoln town car Cartier. The standard suspension had airbags. They allowed the car to sit "just right" (that's the position) and provide a comfortable and plush ride on every surface imaginable. But when the system shut down and the bags were deflated (there were 4 people in the car, cruising down the freeway at 68mph or so), the car morphed into a Low Rider out of the sky, the fierce bounced around and slapped the body loudly. Fender. Too bad we were also an hour away from home when this happened. The longest disgusting ride home. But I digress. Installing new airbags in the car showed that the air compressor itself had a serious leak and/or lost the ability to inflate anything. So new airbags came, and when they arrived those springs were gone. Reviews and other Lincoln forums say coil springs can provide the same ride quality as airbags. I was skeptical but something needed to be done cheaper than buying a new air compressor and god knows what else for the car. So I got these feathers. We jacked up the car, put on the footpegs, removed the rear wheels, removed the airbags, tied the air ducts, lowered the lower shock absorbers so the axle lowered a bit more, and the springs stood up with no problems. Undone all of the above, double checked the whole time to make sure everything was installed correctly, jacked up the car and WOW looks great. But how does he drive? wow again I can't say there aren't any airbags in the bag. Same smooth yet reasonably controlled ride as always. And the price - how can you argue. The only problem now is getting the air suspension warning light to go out. Oh yes, not only did the springs come with installation instructions, but they also came with instructions on how to disable that warning light. You just have to go outside and do it. Happy customer is here.
