Shortens when airflow is restricted. I attached this hose to my cyclone dust collector on its 5 gallon bucket. When I finished cutting and removed the hose from the back of the table saw to clear any remaining wood and sawdust that wasn't originally sucked into the cyclone-directed airflow, dust buildup limited the end of the table saw. Tube 50% or less and fold the tube like an accordion. This knocked my dust bag over and made it come within a few feet of me. I compared it to an industrial vacuum hose and found that both are flexible (the industrial vacuum hose is slightly less flexible) but the industrial vacuum hose did not shorten when the hose was 100% clogged. I would spend more and buy a hose that doesn't collapse with normal use.
