It is very sensitive and quite finicky, you need to center the weight. I don't know if mine was damaged, but the disc you weighed against shook for me and gave different measurements when off center. When I turned it upside down the disc fell out exposing the inside but I was able to put it back on. I pasted the image and you can see the black circle that actually weighs it so aim the weight at that. I was able to weigh the cup without the disc and add photos of some of the spices that I measured on just the disc, just the cup, and then both. The amount of spice never changed and the cup and disc were tared. It takes a few seconds to stabilize and if you breathe too close it will be detected. As you can see, it varied by about 5mg depending on the measurement method. I've usually been able to get consistent results but placement is important and sometimes I've delayed it a bit and changed it to 1mg or 2mg. It's a bit finicky when measuring under 10mg. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. I found that in my image you need to add something like paper and then add your powder. Then he was able to find scoops that were anywhere from 1 to 5mg and said they were 3mg. I checked the calibration weight of 50g on the scale which goes down to 0.1g and it showed 50g. I also measured some more spice on the paper and it came out 2.093g and when I put 0.1g on the scale it showed 2.1g. So that's pretty accurate but pretty finicky and if you want something with less spread than 5mg you'll probably have to pay hundreds for the ones they use in labs that can go down to 0.0001g, they aren't much better in this price range.
