No trekking pole!

I have been using this very good monopod very sparingly for many years. Then I recently took an active trip to New Zealand and carried around a monopod with a Fuji xt-30 attached. Walking across Queenstown I often stabilized with the pod and used it as a trekking pole. Then, alongside Ben Lomond, it's time to change the battery in the Fuji (short battery life in a nice small and light camera!). Unfortunately, the screw inserted into the camera came loose and turned inside the monopod and I was unable to unscrew the monopod from the camera body, which I had to do to replace the battery. I ended up having to saw off the monopod near the camera, right in front of the Vertigo Bike Shop (great shop - try the eMTB!). After a few snips, my guess turned out to be correct - the screw came loose from the plastic mount. Using a pair of strong pliers I was able to grab the screw and unscrew it from the camera body - no harm and no damage. So don't hit those monopods too hard!
