I took a chance on ordering this one (how can you lose at the price!) and it was perfect for my needs. It's sturdy enough to fit on a regular tripod or in my case my 1K GorillaPod that I use on the go. It works with my iPhone 8 Plus and I can keep my phone in the case which is what I was hoping for. Note. My iPhone case is the Shieldon Leather Flip Case (an amazing case btw) and I didn't want to take my phone off every time I wanted to use this adapter. Thanks to a fairly large adjustment option (after all, this holder is designed for a small iPad), the mobile phone is placed on the adapter both vertically and horizontally. Here's how it works for me: I open the iPhone case vertically like an open book and slide the phone itself a bit to the right so the phone's camera isn't obscured by the mounting frame and the top and bottom supports located on the right side of the cover itself on the phone itself, it's roughly in the middle, and the left supports sit over and hold the open cover. For landscape orientation, the lid must also be open with the lower bracket legs under the phone and the top of the lid supported by the top of the brackets. This position leaves the camera unobstructed. Everything works and is set up quickly and easily, and the phone is certainly supported. This mount has a twist lock on the back which seems much better than the spring loaded ones I've seen mostly on other products. I am completely satisfied with this product and it is perfect for large plus sized phones like iPhone 6+, 7+ and 8+ and other similar sized large phones. Note. Unless your phone is in a Shieldon case like mine is, this mount will NOT adjust far enough for a horizontal position. if the bracket is too wide in the lowest position. So I would say this mount is perfect for me both vertically and horizontally BECAUSE I have my iPhone in this case.
