I really love this thing. I have pets and live in an apartment building, so smells from someone else's kitchen can sometimes enter my apartment. It doesn't add or smell after it first fades (which smells a bit like bleach/chlorine/ozone to me), it just takes away all the other smells. I use it on curtains, carpets and upholstery with no stains or problems. Great for keeping my small apartment from smelling like a litter box and for freshening up carpets that might otherwise get a bit "doggy". And it purifies the air so I can then use my essential oil diffuser to make everything smell nicer.
