Do not purchase this kit unless you have a soldering iron. As the 4 wire cable was already cut I was about to do some soldering but there are no extra 4 pin sockets in the kit so I had to cut the ends of the clips off the shorter jumpers and solder them to the ends my extension cord. I also covered my solder joints with heat shrink tubing and if you don't already have that gear on hand I wouldn't recommend this kit. Next, the clip connection concept is a joke. The terminals are completely unreliable, and it didn't take much experimentation before I realized that the connections had to be soldered. I've worked with both waterproof and non-waterproof light strips - they need to be soldered for a secure connection. My tips for working with L and T connectors: Method 1: Remove the plastic clips from the connectors and discard them. . Glue the LED strips and connector to the board to hold them in place while you solder the strips to the connector. Do this before you peel and stick the light strips. Method 2 This method is convenient when you want to reattach the connector while sticking the LED strip to the wall or ceiling. Begin preparing the ends of the strip by applying a small bead of solder to each lead. Use a knife to pry up the metal pins in the connector's plastic clips to help it slide into the ends of the ribbon. Place the connector on the end of the ribbon, the solder balls are under the metal pins of the terminal. Now use your hot soldering iron to press down on the top of each terminal pin - it will melt the solder underneath and make a secure connection. After working with them I really don't think there can be a reliable non-soldering solution. Flat wires are too unreliable for any kind of contact connection. Save yourself the hassle and plan your solder joints from the start.
