Awesome timer and clock-DC101. The reviews here cover two different timers. The timer I bought uses button cell batteries. The compartment contains a button cell battery that powers the device and another on top of a used battery as a backup. The timer counts up or down depending on how you set it. When turned off, the sound is loud. Perfect for dinner in the oven. The only confusing thing is the time setting: you have to wait for the time to appear on the display and then press M for two seconds to get the flashing digit. Press the S button to advance one digit. Press the M button again to get the seconds.
