Puppy came home at 7 weeks and is now 14 weeks old. Instead of a "box train" I did an "open box in the LD practice ring". So Higgins could choose between going into his cage or sleeping in his dog bed next to his crate. The space in this grip allowed for a pee pad for emergencies during exercise and a separate area for feeding and toy play. I installed it in the living room. This protects him when we have to leave him alone, but doesn't push him into the dog crate when he likes to stretch and move. This is a Springer Spaniel, an active breed, so we felt better giving him more space and options than sitting in a cage. He is not using the piss pads in his pen at the moment.
