I bought this mainly for grinding coarse himalayan salt which I like to use. The previous salt grinder I used only had an adjustable nut on top and you had to find the right grind size through trial and error. On the whole it doesn't matter, but I like clearly labeled and repeatable takes. The only minor issue I have is that the coarse salt I sometimes use has bits that are slightly larger than the 4mm size recommended for use with this grinder. If he bumps into one of them, the windmill will freeze for a moment, but a little more forward and backward wrist rotation will help overcome this. One problem I sometimes run into is that while I don't have particularly large hands, I sometimes find that my hand overrides the adjustable dial and that I sometimes unintentionally change the grind size while grinding (especially when I'm on a big piece bump). salt, as mentioned above). While this is a personal engineering error and not a fault of the grinder itself, I wish I had a 9 inch version of this grinder. Use those 7 inches for a different type of salt. I'm only giving this grinder 4 stars at the moment as I've only been using it for a few months. If it works well in a few years I'll try to remember to come back with an update. So far I'm very happy with this grinder.
