Great cooler with a few "tricks/mods "

For its money this fridge has some great features and does a good job of chilling food - IF you use a few tricks. We just finished a four day road trip that left the fridge in the back of our minivan the entire trip to keep the critters out. To prepare, I pre-chilled the cooler in a home air conditioner overnight, then froze it with a layer of 11 x 11 reusable chill blocks on the bottom and three 1-gallon drinking water containers that I froze. Groceries were placed in small paint buckets, and meat products were placed in zippered bags separate from other items. Then they put in 1/2 gallon milk for kids and other drinks. TIP: Place a thick towel or blanket over the food and wrap it around the edges of the food and ice cream. At the end of the fourth day, with temperatures in the 80s, we still had ice in gallon jugs (about 20% estimated) and enjoyed ice cold milk for breakfast. When we returned home on the 5th day, the temperature gauge showed 41 degrees in the cool box. For $ and a little prep I thought it was awesome! CONS: I've noticed that under heavy loads you have to be careful not to pierce the floor with rocks, so be careful where and how you move the cooler when it's heavy. LOVE THE RETRACTABLE HANDLE!

Pros
  • 110 Qt. ample space for 168 cans
Cons
  • low maintenance
