My phone has a textured rubber cover. I saw a video of someone sticking a metal disc into the lid and I liked the idea because it wasn't visible. I tried this and my phone fell off the stand, probably because my case is too thick for the magnetic force to hold it in place when stored. Decided to do as advertised. On the outside of the lid I glued a clear adhesive pad and glued a metal disk to it. The phone fell a few minutes after being attached to the magnetic stand. My cover is textured and may have been preventing the tape from attaching properly. I've removed it. I took a few drops of superglue and glued a metal disc directly onto the lid. As long as it works Holds on a magnetic mount. Once you figure out how to get it glued properly, it works great. You may not have the same problems as me, I think it depends on the type of surface you stick it to.
