I downgraded from a 3770K to a 1700 (also without overclocking), and the performance boost in synerender was noticeable. The results indicated a multiplier of 2.2. For some reason, just a portion of the grass on one core counts when calculating the multiplier for a real-world scenario (3 times). But it's still a huge deal! Concurrently, we purchased a 7700 for use in the workplace; I did not test the claim that the render is 1.6 times weaker on the real stage, but it was the case on the bench.
