I have a JVC head unit that plays MP3 files from a CD. It was great for audio books, but I wanted to be able to continue the book while doing things like mowing the lawn, so I bought this adapter to take my books with me. The adapter itself is a bit bulky, luckily my Dodge Ram has a handy place behind and under the dash stereo to store it, and I was able to fit the end of the iPod into the blind hole under the stereo. It was ridiculously easy to install. I played around with the UI a bit trying to find the book I wanted to store in it (the rudimentary display only shows the first 8-10 characters of the title), but I finally figured it out. not the best, but I like it. The sound quality is really superb, and if you activate the iPod function on the stereo, playback starts right where you left off (no waiting for the disc to spin, etc.). But the biggest disappointment I had was when my iPod ran out of battery and shut down. It doesn't seem to charge my iPod model. For the most part I'm happy with this purchase, but I think JVC/Apple could improve it. The bulky adapter is a nuisance, but the cables are long enough to get around that. The end of the iPod is big and some sort of shutdown could have been used to make it easier to fish through the dashboard, but I got over it easily enough. However, the lack of a charger on my iPod might make me change my mind.
