Loud until it falls apart

We've tried so many bluebells in the past and most of them mysteriously disappear from our dogs in the woods, defeating the purpose. They haven't fallen off yet and are very loud on our smooth-haired dog, not so much on our double-coated dog (fur muffles noises?) Update: Both bells fell off during one of our walks.
