We actually bought this set for our 20 month old baby who has some texture issues that prevent him from chewing and swallowing food effectively. He loved those textured feeding spoons! Their material and texture allows less solid food (mashed/mashed) to stick to the spoon instead of slipping off immediately (like traditional spoons), making it much easier for kids to get at least some of it. Put food in their mouths until they master their ability to eat from a spoon. Our son also benefited greatly from the texture during his therapy sessions. The little nubs and bulges of the spoons provide just enough texture to slowly but surely acclimate his tongue and the inside of his cheeks to the different textures without fear of choking (like many products do for him). In the two short months we've had the spoons (and been using them regularly) we've seen such tremendous improvements in his tolerance for foods of different consistencies and textures! The bowl is the icing on the cake - its base is wider than the top and covered in non-slip rubber, which has helped us prevent a lot of spills!
