Our family loves chess so I thought this would be a fun item. Well, the quality of the ceramics used is pretty bad. These things are made of extremely weak clay/porcelain. First, even a slight contact between the blocks led to the collapse of one of them. Then my son "firmly," not hard, placed one of them on a granite countertop and it broke completely in half. Sound is not only weak, but also very thin. I've also found that the little magnet can break the blocks if you forget to separate them before grabbing one of them. If you pick one up, the other will fly in, spin down, hit the surface and likely break. Suitable for decorative purposes only.
