I had to replace my original remote after the right cursor button broke and fell out after a year and a half. Works great out of the box. Just add batteries and you're on your way. Works like a native remote control. I'm all about build quality and durability. The plastic seems cheaper than the original remote. The buttons feel a bit bland and cheap compared to the original remote. For less than $8 if this lasts a year and I need to replace it I'll just buy another one. So the replacement remote worked fine for about a year and then I started having issues with the volume down button and channel buttons working intermittently. I just ordered a second remote control and it works right out of the box.
