Review on MIRA 20 oz Stainless Steel French Press Coffee Maker: Double Walled Insulated Pot for Hot Coffee & Tea Brewing - 600 ml, Pearl Blue by Prince Aguirre

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I like that this MIRA is unbreakable

I had 3 Bodum glass presses of different sizes and each broke. First of all, I like that this MIRA doesn't break. Second, because it's made of stainless steel, it's cleaner and/or easier to clean. Glass jars require a plastic mount, which in turn leaves extra nooks and crannies that can hide stains and dirt. Third, it was nice that MIRA provides an extra screen in case it wears out. Ouch. Since this press doesn't break, maybe I'll really own it long enough to find out if those screens really wear out? Fourth and last, here's why I like this MIRA press: MIRA left just enough "slack" at the bottom of the coffee pot for the press to actually press the coffee grounds. My last Bodum, also a small press for one, maybe two servings, was more of a French press than a French press! The piston didn't go deep enough to actually break through the wet ground. As a result, I always felt like I was being robbed of the flavorful part of my coffee and not getting my money from the coffee grounds. Into this 20 ounce MIRA pot, I first add 4 level tablespoons of dry ground coffee. Then 16 ounces of very hot (no longer boiling) water. This pot barely holds anything, so I have to press lightly at first. But it works great and gives me just the right amount of coffee in my soy space java mug! Perfection!
