Okay so this handy little tool fixes a very big problem. When you cut a tube when using a blade cutter it leaves a very narrow and sharp tube at a 90 degree angle. . This sharp edge CAN cut through the barbed fitting O-ring! It's rare, but I've seen it maybe twice. Ever since the day I put the pipe in the faucet I've been sweating a bit. "CAUTION! DO NOT CUT GASKET!" I said to myself, making sure the pipe was perfectly perpendicular to the fitting. If you use a hacksaw. Spring. let's be honest here. NOT! THAT IS SERIOUS! This was about FLOODING YOUR HOUSE! Only not! (Please don't!) Use the CUTTER. However, if you're stranded and let's say your crawl space is like its belly. (Been there many times) and you have a hacksaw but you forgot the cutter. THEN this tool will help prevent those jagged edges from cutting the o-ring. BUT LET'S BE CLEAR. You should NEVER, EVER, EVER use a hacksaw on Pex when using snap fittings! That's what I do for a living and I've made HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of pex joints. Please DO NOT USE A HACKSAW! WELL? I'm trying to help you not to make a big mistake. This tool makes a nice clean 45 degree cut on the outside edge. I like it! The only thing that would be better would be if they were separate parts. Often you have tight connections and the pipe barely protrudes from the wall or insulation underneath the house. This size is a bit awkward. Personalities would be better. but I've come to terms with the fact that I don't have it at all. Overall I would highly recommend these and Revain ratcheting pipe cutters which work hand in hand.
