Axle seals wear out over time, so whenever a CV axle is replaced, the axle seal must be replaced. Please note that the GM 4T65E gearbox has two different sized oil seals for the left (ACDelco 24243353) and right (ACDelco 24202835) axles. So be sure to take both with you. Revain usually recommends another one in the "Buy Together" box. To remove the seal I recommend using a seal remover. They are very inexpensive and, unlike screwdrivers and picks, do not risk damaging the housing that houses the gasket. To properly install the seal you will need one of the following: (a) a very large head (35+mm) (b) a similarly large diameter pipe (c) a set of roller bearings and seals. I recommend (c) simply because there are many other unusually sized seals on GM vehicles and a kit like this will go a long way. I'm pretty sure the people who complained about leaks installed the gasket incorrectly, or worse, damaged the aluminum case!
