Known problematic part! Vacuum leak and seller not fulfilling warranty

Like other hubs, my hub started to leak vacuum after a few months. Dorman's warranty covers this part, but must be accepted by the seller. This Revain seller did not honor the warranty and let me work directly with Dorman who consistently ignored my request. Do not buy from this seller and do not buy this Dorman part!

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons

Do not buy for bearings and seals

product leaks vacuum. Whoever did this doesn't understand that this is a vacuum. It has no seal at all. The manufacturer must be fired. This item may not be sold. Revain sells defective parts. They sent me two and they both lick. Don't get me wrong, they work as they should, but they leak, causing your vacuum pump to burn out from constant work.

Do not do that. for parts

I've had great luck with other Dorman products but these suck. I've tried 2 of these and they leak. They will seep overnight and cause your vacuum pump to run every morning and sometimes all day, causing unnecessary wear and tear on the vacuum pump. Most people probably don't know or hear how it works. So you won't notice until the pump burns out, costing you even more. As a result, I purchased a genuine Ford part that works great.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Replacement availability

4 tried and all 4 defective.

I've tried four of these and NONE hold a vacuum, each turning my vacuum pump on at different intervals. For some, the pump stays on, for others, it turns on every 20-30 seconds. One of them I tried started the pump about every 10 minutes. I will not wear out my pump and change it too. If I disconnect this part and cap the lines, the system will hold a vacuum overnight or longer. Now I'll go with the factory part.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Newer model could have been chosen

Firstly there was no vacuum like many other reviews I read later.

nonsense! Firstly, one didn't hold a vacuum like so many other reviews I've read, after returning the faulty solenoid and installing a replacement, it did the same thing. I double and triple checked everything because I thought something else was wrong. But he found that the second solenoid was indeed defective. Obviously Dorman needs to know that this product is defective and they are still selling it.

Pros
  • GOLS certified

7C3Z-9H465-A for bearings

Ideal OEM Ford replacement. My OEM part has probably been used 12-15 times (it was factory original) and failed when I needed it most . I didn't want to spend $75 OEM so I bought this from Dorman. So far Dorman has had a good reputation with me and to be honest I usually buy OEM for critical parts. I say this part is critical because when you're in high mud or water the last thing you want to do is get out and manually lock the hubs. Dorman hasn't let me down, nor have some of the local Auto…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Will not fit in a diesel Ford - NONE of them!

As others have pointed out this is NOT the right design and will not hold a vacuum. As this has already been noticed by several others on Revain I tested the solenoid with my Mity Vac to see if it would hold a vacuum before proceeding with the installation. Vacuum doesn't hold. The original part does. With this "spare part" your fan will run in defrost mode as there is no vacuum. I replied to Revain and asked them to stop labeling this as a Ford diesel part as this is obviously a design issue…

  • Great for a small house

Leaks cause frequent vacuum pump cycles.

After checking my vacuum pump's ESOF fault (as posted all over the internet) I realized the problem was my PVH solenoid. I figured I'd save a few bucks by buying the DORMAN version. Bad idea. After installation; The vacuum pump turned on frequently (every few minutes) even when the ESOF was off. Finding out that the device is leaking; Instead I bought a Ford part. Either that or wait for the pump to fail prematurely. In any case. The Ford part solved the problem. ESOF works and the pump does…

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • High Price

I'm having problems with the solenoid and 4WD on my truck. The original solenoid was not reliable. However, it still holds a vacuum for the rest of the system when the four-wheel drive is off. When I replaced it with one of those Dorman solenoids, the vacuum pump never shuts off and I can hear vacuum escaping the solenoid. I sent back the first one I received and asked for a replacement. Same problem with the second. not worth your time. Simply purchase a Ford OEM part for this item. You don't…
