They are very suitable for aluminum rims. They're useless on steel. Being able to bend the smaller one is important to get at the spokes that would otherwise become a wasted area. The large brush does most of the work and goes into the cylinder on the aluminum rims to clean the brake dust that otherwise accumulates there. Depending on the size of your wheels relative to your brake disc, a larger brush may not go all the way through all parts of the wheel. They are much softer than a bristle brush. I will definitely do it again and recommend it.
