Review on Sportout 40×60 Monocular Telescope with Phone Adapter & Tripod – High Definition BAK4 Prism & FMC HD Monocular for Hiking, Concerts, Bird Watching, Hunting, and Wildlife Tourism by Jessica Wang

Great telescope but a bit tricky to use as a phone zoom lens

Using it as an optical telescope is easy and intuitive, providing enough magnification for activities like bird watching. The included tripod is very small, which limits its usefulness somewhat, but on the other hand, it doesn't take up much space, making it easy to have on hand when you need a tripod. The included phone camera kit is so customizable that you can adapt the telescope to the camera lens of almost any phone model. However, it takes a little time to adjust everything and I found it impossible to get a completely unobstructed view through the telescope with my phone in my pocket. No matter how much I adjusted it, I always got at least a piece of the adapter covering the edge of my field of view. I believe this may be due to my phone case leaving the telescope a little further from the camera lens than intended so the camera doesn't have an unobstructed view. And because of the way the phone attaches to the telescope, I don't want to use the phone without a protective case because I'm clumsy enough to drop the phone in the process. While the telescope has good optical performance, I personally didn't find it particularly useful as a telephoto lens for my phone's camera.
