Good but not the best option

I chose these because they offer wider coverage than the OEM option and I didn't want to pay as much as the WeatherTech brand. Fit and cover well as expected. I still have to get used to the slickness of the material compared to OEM carpet mats but I think they'll last the life of the car and I'll probably keep them in for most of the year. I've only had them for a week. Protection from the wet mess of fall, winter and spring activities is my main concern. I wonder if WeatherTech would address two of my complaints - fit and design. The edges of the trimmings are warped in some places - the edges are wavy, not straight - and therefore do not fit snugly into the rug in all places. . They do in most, but not all. Also, the holes in the front floor mats that run over the stock floor pillars were cut too far apart. I had to pull the mat very hard to tighten it. But now everything is fine. In terms of design, the backside facing the carpet has small, hard and sharp points that should definitely be there to create traction and reduce slippage. They seem to work great, but the design process allowed them to be 100% placed under the mat. I have an issue with this as the floor mats cover a lot more than the original mats as they cover up much of the plastic trim around the seats, gas door release buttons and pedals. I expect these spots will cause a lot of scratches and damage to these surfaces. They definitely hurt my fingers a lot. I like mats, so I decided to put a lot of time and effort into cutting the posts in those places as best I could. It's a guessing game about all the areas getting in their way, and it wasn't much fun doing it with all those sharp spikes. My perfectionist personality also put some furniture pads in there because I had them. As I worked on this, I kept thinking about why the design process failed here and left out some details that could have improved the product and customer satisfaction. Perhaps this is the shortest way in this process, allowing them to cut costs as they work on floor mats for hundreds of cars.
