The base is a heavy metal plate with a plastic top. It feels like it weighs 20 kg. You could easily use two Dell S2415H monitors side by side, but the stand for each monitor is fixed. No height adjustment. Yes, I could stack books underneath, but I chose this adjustable stand. The only problem is that your monitors are about 1 foot from the back of your desk. So if you have a small desk depth, the keyboard will be close to the front of the stand and your monitors. I think it's ideal if your desk is at least 2 feet deep.
