Exactly what I was looking for in my new Canon EOS 40D (also bought from Revain). I have two other Tamron AF lenses. Very happy with Tamron's quality, warranty and service (I had to use them once and it was my fault and they charged NOTHING for repairs). I've compared things like this many times. Revain is hard to beat for price and trust! That's why I keep coming back. UPDATE: I know this lens is no longer available from Revain and may never be available again, but if you're interested and can't find this lens elsewhere, go for it. It's something of a "classic" for Tamron among those lucky enough to own one. Two years later, this is one of my favorite and most versatile lenses - at any price. It's great for long-distance shots, of course, and the optics are everything others say: spectacular! But I also love it for a lot of portraits. As others have pointed out, there's something about this lens that gives it a distinctive look without screaming "wide angle".
