Review on Spearhead Premium Breathe Filter Activated Replacement Parts made as Filters by Seth Gibbons

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The filter may be great but check out the VW install - check out youtube for install

Spearhead said they would send another filter if I checked and pointed out the review , so here it is. It's one thing - you can get two for one if you leave a review, although I don't know if this deal will last. That's good. The filter may or may not be great - hard to tell for the layman, but it fits in where the other one came out. And it seems like a worthwhile venture - the old one had a lot of stuff, even small leaves, so it's nice to put a clean one in, and it's a lot cheaper than the $80+ VW dealer. Some of the reviews here have said that this filter appears to be heavier or more durable than the OEM, but I haven't noticed. If you don't know how to install this thing, be sure to check out all the youtubes on it. One of the YouTubers just said to press the little switches on either end of the glove box to release it. The other youtube was more detailed and showed the small control lever on the right, which is still attached to the glove compartment after the switches and which also has to be released. Note that that little control lever on the right isn't really designed to hold the glove box and it basically collapsed because I couldn't figure out how to release it at first. It's attached to the gear, and what's special about the gear is that it has two tabs on each side. As you spin the wheel it should hit the point where the ledges go through the holes and exit the wall. At least that's what happened to me and I hope that everything will be done right. There's a little cog in there that just dangles in the grease and it just pops out when that thing falls off and you have to figure out how to put that cog back in place. I don't understand what the purpose of this control lever/wheel is, but since there is a wire attached to it I assume it turns on the light in the glove box when the glove box is opened. It's definitely not designed to hold a glove box, so don't expect it. A little fiddling to remove the air cleaner cover and the glove box fell off. It may not be on the lower models, but it was on my 2017 Golf.
