Review on POWERTEC 71007 220V Paddle Switch by Ronald Orear

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It's a bit more than you think, but for the most part I think it will work.

I'm giving it four stars because now that it's installed it looks good and works a lot better than the old one. I have it on my Grizzly 1022 table saw. The manual says 30 amps for the switch. The original looks like it's good for half of those, and indeed, the original switch eventually concocted and wouldn't turn off. This one is much more powerful. Its installation was a royal pain. The switch housing is slightly larger than the old one. I had to take my dremel and sand off about an eighth of an inch of material on the top and bottom of the metal plate holding the switch. The switch body is also slightly larger front to back than the old one, and the original junction box was undersized, so I had to get creative in bending the wires to make it all fit. And I needed other screws because changing the box meant completely disassembling the saw. But that's more to do with the saw than the switch. It's a bit more than usual, but for the most part I think you can work around it. And now that it's here, it works great and looks better. The old switch didn't have a paddle. This one is much more comfortable to use and is rated at 35 amps at 120. There isn't much to choose from for this strength. Speaking of which, Revain's electrical specs suck. A person should be able to search for current and voltage as they refine their search for switches and components.
