Good Whole House Water Filtration System

Good product and filters Philadelphia water adequately. My wife says her hair felt better after washing. I've also noticed that my hair falls out less when I shower. Updated on Friday July 6, 2018 (1 month of use). Updated Tuesday, July 10, 2018 (added hair comments). Installation: 1. Since I was installing this in a basement against a stone wall, I made a frame out of 2" x 4" lumber that I attached to the stone wall. I have learned that using a 1" copper spigot from a plumbing store is not a good idea as the connection will leak. I then switched to a 1" x 3/4" PVC adapter sleeve, schedule 40, which is deeper than the teflon taped copper sleeve and the leak was sealed. 3. Philadelphia's water supply is >=80 psi where we live. The iSpring documentation says 80psi is fine, but the yellow labels on the large blue filter canisters warn of >= 75psi water pressure. Lines when changing the filter. 5. I've noticed (expensive) Shark Bite fittings being used, particularly around the iSpring WSP-50 - Reusable Sediment Water Filter Down-Rotate - 50 Micron, 20 GPM, 1"MNPT + 3/4" FNPT https ://www.amazon. com/gp/product/B072YVNRZN/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 helps to remove the filter housing for occasional cleaning. (See attached photos) Product defects: 1. One of the blue filter holders had thread damage which was most likely damaged in transit. This filter was leaking and I purchased Dow Corning 111 Silicone O-Ring Lube (5.3 oz tube) Dow Corning 111 Silicone O-Ring Lube (5.3 oz tube) https://www .amazon.com/gp/product /B00CTUJNU2/ ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1, which is certified for use on catering equipment and water filtration system O-rings. Even if you don't have a filter canister with damaged threads, I recommend using an FDA-approved o-ring lubricant to create and maintain a secure fit. Water Quality: The system has been running for less than a week and we are very happy with the results. It's worth the money and takes at least a day to install. After using iSpring for a month, my wife and I have noticed that our hair has stopped falling out in the shower. There must be something very evil in the Philadelphia water system. What are we drinking? My wife has also noticed that some brown hairs are coming back. I don't know if it's a water filter or vitamin supplements. The water feels softer and makes the house easier to clean. Update 06/11/2019 I changed my water filters this morning which consist of a sump filter and 2 activated carbon filters. Sediment filter on the left, new white. Philadelphia claims to have the cleanest water in the country. Then what is this brown stuff? I'm glad I bought this water filtration system.

Pros
  • DIY Installation and Maintenance Check out our guide and helpful YouTube videos for easy DIY installation. With 1" NPT inlet/outlet and 20" x 4.5" filter cartridges, the system has minimal impact on water flow (up to 15 GPM) and requires minimal maintenance.
