Review on πŸ“¦ 10 lb Newsprint / Packing Paper Sheets - 24"x36" Size by Doris Tran

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Inconsistent but works well

I buy it for two reasons: packaging and Photography. I've bought it twice already and will order again just because I need cheap wrapping paper. The reason for the lower rating is that this paper is highly variable in both color and weight. Some sheets are very thin (e.g. newsprint), others very thick (e.g. thick printer paper). None of them are white. Some leaves are greyish, some yellowish. All in the same order. Why is this a problem? Well, I don't care about the presentation aspect of this item because I'm using it to fill packages, not packaging for actual items. I use tissue paper and plastic bags for packaging. No matter what this paper looks like, my packages will look the same and my customers won't know. However, when packing, I should pay attention to which sheets I take with me. If I need a thinner piece that's gentler on the product or doesn't take up as much space, I need to find one of the thinner pieces. If I have a lot of space to fill and don't need to compress when shipping, I have to be careful to use thicker pieces. Or sometimes I just need to use twice as many thin sheets to fill the same space as a thick one (or cut a thick piece in half to fill less space). It just makes shipping a little more annoying as I don't know what I'll get next. Delivery doesn't have to be like a box of chocolates. I use these sheets for lay flat and shoe photography. They work well, but because the colors don't go together, I always have to make sure the lighting matches a cooler gray or a warmer yellow. It's not the end of the world either, but it just makes my already busy days that little bit harder. I would look for another product but at this price point and the fact that I don't know if another product would be better. It's just easier to keep using this product.

Pros
  • Lay the paper flat and start wrapping things to prevent breakage and you can use packing tape on the ends to secure it
Cons
  • Oversized piggy bank
