For anyone looking for a non-plastic kettle, this isn't it. Every time you pour out hot water, it runs through this piece of plastic. (Yes, you can remove the filter, but there's a giant plastic holding the filter in place and won't come loose). 2) There is a large amount of silicone on the bottom of the kettle, which connects the glass side to the stainless steel bottom. I returned it. FYI, for technical reasons, there is NO all-glass kettle. ALL have silicone rings on the bottom and most have a plastic cap/neck. Your options for heating plastic-free water are: A) Glass kettle with hob (see my other review), this is impractical and not very user friendly. B) The stainless steel Secura kettle is the only option in my opinion. The entire interior is 1 seamless stainless steel, no silicone/plastic. And the mouth/lid is also made entirely of stainless steel. It was always an old brand too. After trying all the options, including the expensive $200-$300 glass teapots, I can tell you with confidence that there is no electric glass teapot without a silicone ring. Secura stainless steel teapot, pour into a glass pitcher for storage. Because I don't think you should leave water in stainless steel for long, but it's much better than plastic/silicone at high temperature.
