SAVE YOUR MONEY on coffee, tea and espresso

OXO Glass Cordless Kettle, Stainless Steel - Purchase the Glass Cordless Kettle in November 2016 and it only lasted 7 months before it started to rust. Then a month after the top cover latch broke, it also has a design flaw, you can never drain all the water. UPDATE: December 2017 - I received another new kettle under warranty in August (one star for the customer service experience too). 2017 the second one has already started to rust, it's only been about 4 months.

Proper cleaning for stainless steel

Have been using it for almost a year now, several times a day with tap water, always leave standing water in it. yes it will rust the floor is made of stainless steel. All stainless steels will rust over time in a corrosive environment. Hard sponges will scratch the surface but will not remove rust (see image, don't do this). Fill to the minimum 16 ounce mark, add about 20-25g of Fruit-Fresh, cook and soak, rinse. the rust is gone. Image of a kettle after 11 months of use following the…

After cooking, there is a plastic chemical taste. You really smell a strong odor when you open the lid after cooking. Will ruin every cup of tea. some chemical leaching in water. I should have read the reviews before buying, I see there were a few others who could taste the plastic. Upgrade, plastic taste will not go away. I'm surprised it's OXO. many OXO products with good grip and this is the first failure.

Fast hot water in a safe container.

Bought based on the cooking show rating. After using it, you will see the benefits. First, it boils water! Not bubbly, but bubbly, bubbly hot water. So that! You'll appreciate the soft-opening lid when hot water isn't pouring on you. Then you start finding reasons to use this over the microwave and stovetop. Example? They want hot dogs. . . Pour boiling water over and serve hot immediately. Other excuses to use it? Coffee in the French Press! Much sooner since the water boils so quickly. I…

The product is no longer the same - do not buy!

This is the second OXO kettle of this model. I bought my first one from Bloomingdales 4 years ago and have been VERY happy all these years! It would have taken me longer but when the pandemic hit and we sprayed a lot of alcohol on the kitchen counter it could get into the switch and it only works about 70% of the time and the light is off. doesn't work at all - which is uncomfortable under heavy use, so I've decided to buy the exact same model from Revain now. The quality is NOT the same…

Not quite perfect, but definitely good.

The quality of this kettle is very good - well made. I feel the need to point out a couple of design flaws: 1. There is a ledge on the inside of the kettle at the top that prevents the kettle from being completely emptied unless you tip the kettle over the sink and rock it. You will always have some water in the kettle (it's hard to explain but I hope you get it); 2. Not exactly a design flaw, but being a glass kettle the body obviously gets hot so you should only ever use the handle until it…

but it's much better than plastic/silicone at high heat

For anyone looking for a non-plastic kettle, this isn't it. Every time you pour out hot water, it runs through this piece of plastic. (Yes, you can remove the filter, but there's a giant plastic holding the filter in place and won't come loose). 2) There is a large amount of silicone on the bottom of the kettle, which connects the glass side to the stainless steel bottom. I returned it. FYI, for technical reasons, there is NO all-glass kettle. ALL have silicone rings on the bottom and most have

Beautiful and functional

I bought this kettle to replace a previous kettle that eventually broke down. It's an elegant design so it would look great in our kitchen. It boils water well, which is important. I use it to boil a small amount of water (at least 16 ounces) for Aeropress coffee and I can pour a small stream for that. I use it to boil more water when cooking pasta as water boils much faster in a kettle than on our gas stove. until fully boiled. I was surprised how fascinating it is. There are a few things to…

Hugely disappointing teapot

I am a big tea drinker, I needed a really good teapot to replace my old one as I drink about 10 cups of tea a day. I chose this kettle for two reasons: Good Housekeeping voted it "Best Kettle" and it was expensive compared to other kettles. These two factors gave me the idea that I'm going to get a great teapot. Unfortunately this couldn't be further from the truth and I returned the kettle for the following reasons: 1) It is not a pressure cooker. It took 8 minutes and 32 seconds to boil 1.75…
