Back to FLIR One Pro

When my FLIR One Pro broke recently, I decided to "upgrade" it to the C5. Unfortunately, in my application, the few advantages of C5 outweigh its disadvantages. Pros: - Excellent battery life compared to FOP - Feels like a 'real' camera, doesn't always have to fiddle with cumbersome phone mounts - Spot metering with auto-search is amazing - it automatically jumps to the hottest spot in the frame and reports the temperature , as opposed to FOP where you have to manually place a point marker where you want to measure. Cons: - No distance adjustment for MSX parallax, and the MSX minimum alignment distance is about 3ft, making this camera totally unusable for PCB work. Probably suitable for HVAC or electrical, but complete nonsense to me. In order to transfer the images from it to your computer, you need to create an online "FLIR Ignite" account, upload the images there, go to the website, navigate to their position in the folder hierarchy and upload. With FOP I just go to the camera app and AirDrop to my MacBook - MUCH better. - The UI is almost as crappy as FOP's in its own way. I was hoping for the best as this is supposed to be a more luxurious product. The body of the camera is surrounded by a synthetic rubber "soft-touch" coating. There was cardboard dust on it straight out of the unopened box. If you've had other products with a similar coating, you know it's only a matter of time (usually 3-5 years) before it all turns into a sticky mess.

Pros
  • Designed for professional use - robust and reliable
Cons
  • Long delivery time
