You Can't Stop Science

At its best, a depressurized bottle will release CO2 until a certain equilibrium is reached. The more the bottle is empty, the less gas is left behind. So I wouldn't expect the fizz to last more than a few days. And while this can prevent more air from entering the wine bottle, it still leaves air out of the open bottle. Basically it is a temporary measure, not a preservation. It's ok for what it's designed for, a temporary cover. But don't expect miracles.
