Review on Timbren Suspension Enhancement System - TORTUN4L: Boost Your Vehicle's Performance by Bryan Gallardo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Back no longer sags :0)

I was considering buying TORTUN4, but decided on TORTUN4L. I have a 2012 Tacoma 4x4 sr5 with a 4 blade package. The Timbren website recommended TORTUN4 as did their customer support. I didn't go with them because I would end up with a 1/4 inch gap. The instructions give a spacing of 1/2" to 1 1/2". I had a 5 1/4 inch gap between the top of the blade and the frame fender. TORTUN4 is 5" and TORTUN4L is 4 1/2". Switching from TORTUN4L left me with 3/4" of clearance. I think off-road Tacomas have more ground clearance. I think it's 6 1/4" and that's why Timbren recommends TORTUN4. I think all Tacomas should use TORTUN4L. The reason is I assume you have a harder ride. The Timbren rep I spoke to said that was not the case. He said it's just wider, but just as flexible. I've read many reviews from Tacoma and Frontier owners. They used heavier timbres and complained about the rough ride. There it is rated at £6,000 while the TORTUN4L is rated at £3,000. I think they offer the best ride, but that's only after using the TORTUN4L and reading the reviews. A discharged mine hurts sometimes, but it's not a hard ride. Drives more like a truck. If you didn't like it, I wouldn't even wear it. If you like the smooth ride of a car, keep it in stock. Half charged was where I could really feel them. This is because when I was half loaded I only had 1/4 inch clearance and they kept hitting. Again, it's not super hard, more like a truck ride. Loaded where these things shine. I loaded it with 1250 pounds of cement. There was over 1400 pounds between my hard case, bed mat and all that other stuff. You should have seen that guy's face at the hardware store. He couldn't believe I was still flat ;0) My butt is a bit down but not at all like before. My nose just blew up a little. I could still see the street clearly. What really surprised me was the way she drove. She was smooth and felt no strain on her back. I even drove unloaded like normal driving. I am very happy with this purchase. I think £3,000 is good enough for mid-size trucks. No need to use 6000lb springs. I think people have problems with that. I would measure your distance Even if you have 6 1/4" spacing, you get 1 3/4" spacing between the frame and the timbres. It should still work on off-road models with the 4 blade pack. Whatever the truck, get in and take measurements. Take 3000 lb Timbrens if you can. Go easy on her, dude!
