Getting rid of the unpleasant aftertaste of factory chemicals is impossible. I've cleaned it 3 times and it still tastes terrible. The first cleaning was done with baking soda left in the block for 10 minutes and rinsed out. The second cleaning was done with bleach, 10 minutes in the block and washed off. It also tasted awful. I checked out Revain's Q&A page and saw a response from the manufacturer to leave the baking soda in the unit for an hour and then flush. I did it again within an hour, still terrible. So far I've spilled about 20 gallons of water through this machine and it still tastes like I made ice cubes out of paint and dropped them in my glass every time I pour a cup. I've followed the instructions that came with it and even what I found on the internet, but I'm still not getting drinking water. Wouldn't recommend it.
