If you ask "Can I flash it? The answer is yes, the pads are on the back for soldering and are labeled .command (ymmv, I'm on a Mac).bin. From esptool, the main points to watch out for are: ESP8285 chip Characteristics: WiFi, onboard flash memory Auto-detectable flash memory size: 1MB Due to the 1MB problem, I've never been able to flash anything over 512KB. So use sonoff-classic.bin or esp_1024 images smaller than 512xx. Note: It took me forever to figure this out, but to flash/program it: FLASH: Hold the button (next to the LED) while applying power. GPIO0 (middle panel on the back) does not matte. LET ESP/TASMOTA do their thing. Take the wire from GPIO0 and quickly touch it to ground (same set of pads) 4 times as if you were using the button on the Sonoff. The button does nothing for that matter. Then you will see the configuration SSID.
